Grounded in the Novaco model of anger and incorporating principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the programme is practical, structured, and supportive.

What to Expect

This is a time-limited, psycho-educational programme (not psychotherapy) that equips you with skills and strategies to manage anger more effectively. The focus is on recognising triggers, learning healthier ways to respond, and reducing the negative impact of anger on your daily life.

Programme Outline

  • Identifying triggers and provocations – understanding what sparks your anger.

  • Managing physiological arousal – learning relaxation and breathing techniques to calm the body.

  • Challenging unhelpful thoughts – addressing the cognitive patterns that fuel anger.

  • Developing healthy behaviours – practising assertive communication and expressing anger in constructive ways.

  • Practical resources – each session comes with handouts and literature to support your learning.

This programme will not stop you from ever feeling anger—anger is a natural emotion. Instead, it will help you recognise, manage, and channel anger in ways that reduce problems and improve your wellbeing.

The programme is typically delivered 1:1 over 8–10 sessions, tailored to individual needs.

  • Session length and number may vary depending on the severity of difficulties, engagement, and personal commitment.
